St. Patrick's Day Post Card by Clapsaddle 1909 - Sold!

ajmorris posted this on January 14th, 2012
Asking Price: US $2.50

Disclaimer: This is not really something I offered for sale, but is a real item that sold online at auction for the price noted. I copied the image (public domain) and wrote my own description, to test-out the AmSelling feature on this site.

This is an embossed card featuring a drawing of a little boy standing on a chair, with a shillelagh at his side. He is dressed in iridescent green coat and tie, with a green ribbon around his black top-hat, including an old-fashioned pipe stuck in the ribbon. The boy is holding an open book and appears to be singing. The card has a printed title: St Patrick was a Gentleman. Marked Clapsaddle in the lower left corner. The back has a green one-cent Franklin postage stamp, cancelled with postmark dated March 16, 1909 at 6:00 P.M. in Belleville Illinois. The card was manufactured by International Art Publishing Company. It is addressed to Herman Valerious, Belleville Ill., RFD #2. There is no message, just the initials H. L.
