AmTiquing Trivia:

John Maddock and Sons Pottery

Image of John Maddock & Sons; Burslem, Staffordshire, England

John Maddock & Sons; Burslem, Staffordshire, England
This well known firm was founded by John Maddock in 1830. His son, James Maddock is the present [1897] head of the company. His efforts have always been directed to the improvement of useful rather than ornamental goods. The chromo-lithographic process is now happily employed, the effect being heightened by the vitreous nature of the body, and some charming results are obtained. Mr. Maddock's nephew, John Francis, has been admitted as a junior partner by his uncle, and much of the present management of the firm devolves upon him.
