AmTiquing Trivia:

English Pottery from Cobridge Works

Image of Cobridge Works; Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Cobridge Works; Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Chaffers states that these works were started by Stevenson & Dale in 1780, and that in 1815 it was A. Stevenson alone. Jewett gives the date of the erection of the works as 1808, by Bucknall & Stevenson, who were succeeded by A. Stevenson, who occupied them until 1820, when they passed into the hands of James Clews.
Clews gave up the Cobridge Works in 1829, and in 1836 came to America and established a works at Troy, Indiana. These two marks are impressed. They date from the period when James Clews had the operation.
